educational Philosophy
I am a positive and compassionate educator who believes that students thrive and learn best when they are in a loving, supportive, and safe environment.
Who I am
I am a 25 year old young lady who wants to make a difference in this world and in the lives of children. Being educator was something that was not apart of the roadmap that I had always envisioned. In college I majored in Sociology and Early Childhood Education in hopes of becoming a Child Life Specialist one day. Throughout college I dedicated much of time to my studies and volunteering. For a few years I volunteered as well as completed an internship at COTS (Community of the Shelterless in Sonoma County). Through my volunteer work and internship I tutored students who were once homeless but who had now been placed in transitional housing. Also, during college I volunteered at Randall Children's Hospital under the Child Life Department. In my position I was able to educate both the children and their families about the child's life threatening disability or illness. Child Life was a career that I was extremely passionate about but with the lack of job positions available I needed to reevaluate what I could do that enabled me to work with students in need. With that in mind I fell into teaching.
School
For the last two years I have taught third grade at Shasta Elementary in Manteca. Working at Shasta Elementary has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things that I have ever done. Shasta is a melting pot of students from all different cultures and backgrounds. Shasta's population is predominately low income. This year I will be moving to fourth grade.
Interests & Hobbies
I love to travel. In college I studied abroad in London and since then I have been on the go. I have traveled to 16 countries and have loved each and every one. I am also interested in sports and enjoy golfing on the weekends. I would consider myself a foodie and enjoy trying new types of foods and restaurants. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
Family
I am very lucky to have such a supportive and tight knit family. My parents have been my biggest blessings and have done so much for me over the years. I have three siblings all of which are older brothers and two sister in laws who are awesome. I also have a two year old niece who brings so much sunshine to our lives.
